Dahlia Daze: An Introduction to Designing with Dahlias

As the late summer approaches, our abundant dahlia fields and greenhouses explode with color. From ball to dinner plate varieties, these high demand blooms are a sight to see! We invite participants to join us for a morning of skill building, fun, and creativity where you will be shown arrange with these eclectic and stunning flowers. Our farm is located in the picturesque White Mountains of New Hampshire, providing us with stunning views and colorful fall foliage. While our farm stand is open to the public, we do not give private tours or growing advice to visitors, so if you are looking to learn more about dahlias and our farm now is your chance to have an all day hands on experience!

What’s Included

The day will begin with a light welcome breakfast and introductions and continue with a tour of our farm where we grow a wide array of annuals and perennials in fields and greenhouse. To follow you will be shown how to store, divide, and plant dahlias—you even get to take your divided dahlias home! Lunch will be offered as you take a break from a full morning of learning. As you enjoy our fresh and local spread (including some veggies we grow!) you can take in our beautiful farm and scenery. Enjoying a view of the White Mountains and Coffin Pond across the street is the perfect way to relax.

In the afternoon, participants will be shown how to harvest dahlias and our post harvesting procedures. Once shown, we will let you loose in the dahlia patch and you can cut to your hearts desire! Once done cutting we will head into the field barn and shown techniques to designing with dahlias as Vanessa demonstrates a lush and garden inspired centerpiece. You will then use our fresh cut dahlias and many other blooms from the farm to create your own arrangement! Support staff will give guidance as you build your composition.

The day will end with final questions and a champagne toast as you set off on your own dahlia journey!

There will be a photographer taking photos of the workshop and student work.
